  • This is "Magna-Tac", a clear, solvent based, fabric glue. I have used many brands with good results. The notched tool has square notches - I use the 1/16" side

  • A nice bead about every 3/4

  • Work quickly (you do have time to do the work, but not time to grab a sandwich along the way)

  • The notched trowel does the metering and spreading. I am holding it at 45 degrees
    c33_wallpape...
  • The notched trowel leaves just enough glue for good adhesion but no globs that will squish up between the boards

  • Lay out the flooring
    c40_wallpape...
  • Smoosh it around and press it down
    c41_wallpape...
  • An extra press at the edges and corners

  • Take off the tape. I am pulling the tape slowly and at right angles to the way it's stuck down - and my fingers holding the tape are touching the floor. This low angle helps keep the tape from leaving residue behind, or from taking the color off the floor

  • Now I can give it a good rub with something smooth and straight... forward and back, side to side until it's smooth and no longer bouncy

  • after 10 minutes or so, I can put on a topcoat of acrylic urethane

  • I never leave the topcoat thick... it takes away the feel of wood floor and leaves too much shine (always a detraction in a vignette)
