  • Marking the length of the flooring strips
    c11_wallpape...
  • I am leaving about 1/16" of clearance. I need some space to work, it's got to be less than will be covered by the baseboard trim
    c12_wallpape...
  • I have 3 different widths of flooring and I'm mixing them in the pre-gluing layout
    c13_wallpape...
  • The un-glued layout. This is the moment to choose the best side of the strips and to mix or match the color
    c14_wallpape...
  • The strips are pretty straight, so I don't have to put the tape on too tight - just a little stretch while I rub the tape down
    c20_wallpape...
  • The stretch makes the flooring tip up on the edges.

  • Test-fitting the door and marking the cut to make the flooring fit around the threshold. There is some advantage in cutting the door opening taller and putting the door over the flooring - it makes it possible to fix the door if it ever breaks. This vignette won't be for play though, so I'm fitting the door into the flooring

  • Mark both ends
    c23_wallpape...
  • Now I'm cutting along the marks - many gentle cuts is safer and cleaner than trying to do too much at once
    c24_wallpape...
  • I should have used a cutting board!
    c25_wallpape...
  • Nice square cuts in the corners
    c26_wallpape...
  • Test - it's a good fit
