  • A strip of copper foil at least 1" wide and longer than the valley.  Cut the foil with an X-Acto knife; handle it with gloves or powder your hands

  • Fold the foil a little at a time so it doesn't stretch

  • Spread the glue evenly

  • Set the folded foil into the glued valley

  • A wooden strip is sharp enough to tuck the crisp fold into the corner, but won't easily cut the foil like a knife would

  • Rub the flashing down - eliminate the bubbles - leave the surface clean (no fingerprints)

  • Mark for the edges of the shingles, 5/16 or 3/8

  • The valley shingle's angle is right when the shingle's other edge is exactly straight up-and-down
