  • Oops! I should have used a floor cut for a circular staircase.
    1_before.jpg
  • Starting from one front corner, a long cut to the back edge
    2_first_cut....
  • A clearing cut about 1/2" from the straight cut, and angled toward it. The ribon between the cuts is removed and new cuts go deeper
    3_clearing_c...
  • Cuts from both front corners
    4_cut_from_c...
  • A heat gun warms the glue to make it soft. The tip of the gun is about 2" from the wood and I move constantly, heating all the way around the floor - top and bottom until the wood is quite warm
    5_heat.jpg
  • This is about how high I can lift the waste piece wihtout risk of damaging the wall
    6_bend_it_up...
  • Up and down, pulling on the piece until it is loose
    7_bend_it_do...
  • I've checked that the walls and floors are still hot. I don't want to tear the wood on the edge of the gable floor
    8_wiggle_and...
  • I pull the nails thru to the inside with pliers and scrape the glue residue with a 1/4" chisel. Now I am ready for the new floor.
