back to the Dollhouse Workshop
  • I am doing the first round of wiring before the Rear Roof, the Gable Roofs, and the Dividers have been installed. What I am doing now can be done after all those things are attached, but it's easier without them in the way.
    422.jpg
  • 3/4" baserun layout (see the "Dollhouse Wiring" section for more). I am using the Layout Stick from an "EL-66" electrification tool set.
    423.jpg
  • The Length of the EL-66 is right for the layout of sconce runs. I do a baserun and a sconcerun in almost every room.
    424.jpg
  • Laying out an "up-and-over" ceiling run.
    430.jpg
  • A baserun, a sconcerun, and an up-and-over run in each room, on each floor.
    432.jpg
  • The "Main" run will connect the floors. I try to make it in one piece (no connections) all the way down the electrification slots, up the attic endwall, over the peak, and down the other attic endwall.
    440.jpg
  • This is the beginning of a "zig-zag" to redirect the tapewire up the attic endwall. First, fold the tapewire back...
    441.jpg
  • ...then fold it over in the new direction. Leave 1/2" along the edge for the wallpaper to grab (you'll see that I didn't leave enough in some places - that make wallpapering a bit more troublesome)
    442.jpg
  • Up to the peak. This is the peak run when not using a ceiling. The Rear Roof gets in the way of connecting to this peak run, and you won't be able to install fixtures. Either delay attaching the Rear Roof, forego lights in this run, or install an Attic Ceiling (there's a demo)
    443.jpg
  • A wrinkle lifted with the back of a craft knife will allow the redirect
    444.jpg
  • Press the wrinkle into the corner
    445.jpg
  • Here's the same wrinkle to an attic ceiling (I always use one if I am wiring a Victoria's Farmhouse)
    446.jpg
  • The Main run without a ceiling. Up to the peak, down the other Attic Endwall, and with a folded corner, along the base of the Attic Endwall.
    447.jpg
  • After the "Main" run is done, a baserun and a sconcerun on both Attic Endwalls...
    448.jpg
  • ... and a baserun on the Gable Triangle.
    450.jpg
  • Along with the Ceiling, I put in a custom Kneewall, so this is wired all in one piece from the Main run, and the spool of tapewire is left attached to run around the Attic Partition once that is installed
    452.jpg
  • I can install the Attic Partition now, and run the wire around it. I will leave enough tapewire to go along the Gable Roof and connect to the Gable Triangle. This is one place I do use a connection because I will wallpaper the attic triangles before I put on the Gable Roofs or the Rear Roof.

  • Connect the runs
    502.jpg
  • Always copper-to-copper and blue-to-blue
    503.jpg
  • This is the interior of my customized JM-1065 (windows changed and added) with the Main run, the up-and-over runs, and the three attic triangles completely wired. Next, I will install the dividers, do a secondary drop in the stairwell, and wallpaper the Attic Triangles
