  • This is how the TapeWire looks on the inside. See that the folds aim up or down so the lump they will make in the wallpaper will be closer to Baseboard or Crown, and less visible

  • This is where I want the coach lamp on the outside. I will measure from the porch floor to the middle of the mounting plate

  • Measuring from the floor, this is where I want the holes. The Coach Light's mounting plate is narrower than the TapeWire, so I will aim the holes a little toward the center. This hole I am aiming slightly to the right

  • And this hole I am aiming slightly to the left

  • This is a 1/16" drill bit in the electrification tool. You can use an electric drill if you have one. Some eyelets suggest a larger hole, but this is the largest bit that will fit in my electrification tool and it will work for any size eyelet
    wiring_a_coa...
  • I am spinning the bit with my fingers and pulling it back out from time-to-time to clear the drillings out of the threads

  • The angle was just right... the holes are close but not touching (even if they touch it's OK, but it makes the wire-stripping more exacting... more on that in a minute)
    wiring_a_coa...
  • I ream the hole with the bit: in-and-out a few times to make the inside of the hole clean and smooth
    wiring_a_coa...
  • Cut the wire leaving a couple of inches
    wiring_a_coa...
  • Pull the leads apart
    wiring_a_coa...
  • With your fingernails, pinch the wire's insulation (the plastic covering on the copper conductor) and pull it off leaving about 3/8
    wiring_a_coa...
  • This wire is "braided". The loose individual wires must be twisted together so you can feed them thru the holes
    wiring_a_coa...
  • Twist the wires so they are together as a single wire all the way to the end!!!
    wiring_a_coa...
  • The leads are separated, there is about 3/8" of insulation on each wire, and the leads are twisted all the way to the ends
    wiring_a_coa...
  • Feeding the leads thru the holes. This Coach Light has a self-adhesive strip on the back. I have pealed off the protector so it's ready to stick.
    wiring_a_coa...
  • Here they are... Pull them thru the wall but not enough to see the wire's insulation
    wiring_a_coa...
  • Insert an eyelet in each hole to connect the Tapewire to the Coach Lamp's wires
    wiring_a_coa...
  • I will test the Coach Lamp before snipping off the extra wire
