  • Install one of the Attic Partitions adjacent to the Stairs

  • Paint the ceilings before wallpapering. Leave some bare wood for gluing the dividers in

  • Let the paint dry, then sand and wipe

  • The second coat is sometimes enough... sometimes a 3rd coat is needed

  • Trim the wallpaper to a little less than the height of the wall. For New Concept houses, 9 1/4 or 9 5/16 is good

  • Cut off the wallpaper with a metal yardsitck and a sharp craft knife
    wallpaper_02...
  • I use pre-mixed methylcellulose paste. Don't be stingy but do spread it evenly
    wallpaper_03...
  • Paste the paper, then paste the wall.
    wallpaper_04...
  • Make sure it gets all the way to the floor and the ceiling.
    wallpaper_05...
  • I line it up with the back edge to get the paper straight, but start laying it down in the front corner holding it with a stick so the corner will be crisp and sharp.
    wallpaper_06...
  • My right hand is holding the paper away from the wall so the brush is the thing that touches the paper to the wall. I work from the front to the back working the paper down and drawing the bubbles to the back
    wallpaper_07...
  • Right over the door. When the glue dries the door will be easy to cut out
    wallpaper_08...
  • Starting in the corner again, working toward the Divider mark... I will paste the wallpaper just past the mark and trim it when the glue is dry
    wallpaper_09...
  • Cleanup with a damp sponge. Clean the floor and ceiling too
    wallpaper_10...
  • The glue is dry and the paper is tight like a drum over the windows and door. I am slicing along the edge using it as a guide (be careful if you've wired thru the door)
    wallpaper_11...
  • It is easiest to wallpaper the Attic Partition before it is glued in. Paint the back edge of the Attic Partition first. Cut the Wallpaper oversized and trim with a sharp craft knife after the glue is completely dry.
    wallpaper_12...
  • Make sure the pattern is parallel with the bottom edge (New Concept houses use symetrical Attic Partitions, so either long edge can be the base... other houses may need the Base identified first).
    wallpaper_13...
  • Lightly sand the exposed edges so there's nothing to catch
