Here's how to make a rubbing of the wall and cutout for cutting a plug so the clapboard match is exact.

      1. Making a plug that will match the wall profile exactly is hard to do

      6. Recording all the details on the paper... the clapboard and the cutout

      7. going all the way around the window twice to really get the details

      8. Label the "Top" - make notes right on the paper with all the info about the plug

Here is a bit from "Customizing a Victoria's Farmhouse, part 1": I fit a piece of wall material, lining up the clapboard as closely as I could, and glued it in. An emery board is a great ‘leveler’ for flattening fill on a wall. Now a couple of coats of paint and we’re good to go. |
